What to consider when buying horses from abroad?

If you buy a horse within the EU and bring them to Germany, it is best to do the following:

How can I edit my ads?

Please use the page My Horses for Sale (you find the link in your personal menu on the top right of the page) to edit one of your horse ads.

If you are not signed in yet, you will be prompted to enter your username and password first.

On the following page you will now see a list with all your active horse ads. For each entry you can find two buttons "Edit Details" and "Edit Media" on the right column. Use these buttons to edit the data of your ad and remove or add new pictures and videos.

Finally, use the "Save" button on the bottom of the page to apply any changes you made.

How can I delete one of my ads?

Please use the page My Horses for Sale (you find the link in your personal menu on the top right of the page) to delete any of your horse ads.

If you are not signed in yet, you will be prompted to enter your username and password first.

On the following page you will now see a list with all your active horse ads. For each entry you can find a buttons "Delete Ad" on the right column. Use this button to delete an ad.

How do I create a horse ad?

Please use the page Sell a Horse to place a new horse ad in the horse market.

Now you will see a little wizard which will guide you through the process of creating an ad. This process consists of a few steps described below. Your current step is being highlighted within a progress bar at the top of the page.

• Choose Advertisement Type (not visible if you own an advertisement flat)

  First of all choose the advertisement type you want to create. You can choose between the Base Ad (free) and the Power Ad (with costs).

  For further details on advertisement types and prices, please refer to our list of prices.

• Horse Details

  Use this step you enter the most important information about your horse. Most of the fields in this step are mandatory and marked with an asterisk (*).

• Further Information

  This steps allows you to enter additional information about the classification and training level of your horse. All fields in this step are optional. However, we recommend to always enter as much information as possible.

• Pictures and Videos

  Now you can add pictures, videos and documents to your ad. Use the button "Add file from computer" if you want to add a picture, video or document stored on your computer. Use the button "Add video link" if you want to add a video which is already online on any other platform (e.g. on YouTube). In this case, just enter the address (URL) of the video.
  
  Wait until all files are fully uploaded before you hit the "Continue" button.
  
  The first image will automatically become your ads gallery image (highlighted as a colorized picture frame). You can change the gallery image by clicking on a picture frame of a different picture.
  
  We recommend to add at least one picture. Depending on your chosen advertisement type you may add further images, videos and documents.

• Confirm

  The last step summarizes all collected data for your ad. Please take a minute and review the information.
  
  Finally, after accepting our terms and privacy policy, hit the "Finish" or "Buy" button to publish your ad.

How can I increase upload speed of larger videos?

The upload of files with a normal Internet connection normally takes much longer than downloading files. In general you can't do not very much about that.

However you may compress/optimize the video size before uploading it.

This usually works quite good with Windows Movie Maker (on a PC). If you use Windows XP, it is probably already installed. Take a look at "Start" - "Accessories" - "Media".

If it does not exist, it can be downloaded for free from Microsoft's website. When using Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 you can get the Movie Maker from the following link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker

Here is a brief guide to optimize your video with Windows Movie Maker:

• Start Windows Movie Maker
• Drag your video file and drop it into the Movie Maker window
• Afterwards, save the movie as WMV (Windows Media Video) in standard quality.

Your video should be much smaller now. If necessary, you might even further reduce the video quality, stating when you save the videos. Depending on the demands on the quality of the video, here you may have to test a little bit.
